Rec. Menu

Resolution (Still Images)

Sets the number of pixels used to record images to CF cards.

Large 1600 x 1200 pixels
Medium 1024 x 768 pixels
Small 640 x 480 pixels

Resolution (Movies)

Sets the number of pixels used to record movies to CF cards.

640 640 x 480 pixels
320 320 x 240 pixels
160 160 x 120 pixels

Compression

Sets the relative compression ratio used to record images to CF cards.

ISO Speed

Sets the sensitivity at which images are recorded.

When ISO [AUTO] is selected, the camera automatically adjusts ISO between 50 and 150.

Higher ISO speeds increase image noise. To take clean images, use as low an ISO speed as possible.

AiAF

Sets whether or not the camera automatically selects one of three AF frames or a fixed center AF frame.

The camera automatically selects the AF frame to focus according to the shooting conditions.

(Center)
Of three AF frames, the middle one is selected to focus. This is convenient for making sure the focus is exactly where you want it.

The AF frame appears on the LCD monitor.

Digital Zoom

Sets the whether or not the optical zoom is supplemented by digital processing.

There are two ways to display the image for longer.

Keeping the shutter button pressed
The image continues to appear on the LCD monitor as long as you keep the shutter button fully depressed.
If you press the SET button while the image is displayed on the LCD monitor
It will continue to display even after the shutter button is released. Press the shutter button halfway again to stop displaying it.

You can do the following while the image is displayed.

Check the image brightness in the histogram

Erase the image

AF-assist Beam

Turn the AF-assist beam on or off.

The AF-assist beam will sometimes emit when the shutter button is pressed halfway to assist focusing in certain conditions, i.e. dark conditions.

File No. Reset

Sets how file numbers are assigned to images when new CF cards are inserted.

Auto Rotate

Sets whether or not images shot with the camera on end are automatically rotated in the display.
