Overview of procedures to complete firmware update
Download --- Unpack download data.
1. From the bottom of this page, go to the Download Page.
2. Read the Software Licence Agreement, and submit the serial number written on the bottom of the camera chassis. If your camera is determined to be subject to firmware update, download the Firmware Update Instructions (pdf file), and Firmware Update Data.
3.

Unpack the Firmware Update Data (see note 1 below). After the data is unpacked a folder will be created containing the files required for the firmware update.

Create a memory card for the firmware update
4. Double-click on the icon of the software "UploadFirmware" included in the unpacked folder.
5.

Follow the procedures shown in the UploadFirmware window. At this time, load the memory card in the camera and connect the camera and computer with a USB cable. When the procedures are completed, the file for the firmware update will have been copied onto the memory card in the camera.

6.

Turn the camera off, and then disconnect the USB cable from the camera.

Operate the camera to update the firmware (rewrite the firmware)
7. Turn on the camera in Replay mode.
8. Press the MENU button on the camera, select [Firm Update ...] from the menu, and press the SET button.
9.

When the screen confirming the firmware version update appears, select [OK] and press the SET button to start rewriting the camera firmware. The camera will be updated to the new firmware version within several minutes after this process is started.

Verify the camera firmware version after update
10.

Start the ZoomBrowser (Windows) or ImageBrowser (Mac OS) software included in the camera kit (see note 2 below).

11.

Connect the camera to the computer with the USB cable, and verify the firmware version after update.

Note 1. The downloaded files must be unpacked on the same computer that runs the UploadFirmware program.
Note 2. To verify the camera firmware version, it is necessary to use the ZoomBrowser EX (Windows) or ImageBrowser (Mac OS) software on the Digital Camera Solution Disk.

To update firmware, be sure to download the Firmware Update Instructions (pdf file) and read it thoroughly.
