How can I tell if I need to update to firmware version 1.0.1.0 on my camera?
  [ PowerShot S70 ]

You can confirm whether your camera has the latest firmware as follows. (Note that cameras with a black dot on the inside of the battery cover already have the 1.0.1.0 firmware, so the update is not necessary.)

Type your camera’s serial number into the serial number field on the download page and click the Send button. If your camera requires a firmware update, the firmware download page will appear.

What has been improved in version 1.0.1.0 of the firmware?
  [ PowerShot S70 ]
When making settings from the Print menu as shown in the image on the right (Print Type: Both; Date: On; File No.: Off), pressing the MENU button to exit the print settings menu caused an E51 error to appear and the camera would automatically shut down. This firmware update fixes that problem.

What has been improved in version 1.0.1.0 of the firmware?
  [ PowerShot A75 ]
When shooting in Manual Exposure Mode (M-mode) with the PowerShot A75, you can set your own shutter speed and aperture values. When using this mode to shoot a very bright subject, the value set for the aperture setting could change to an unintended value. This firmware fixes this problem.

In extremely rare cases, the following problems could occur with this camera, but these have been fixed.
Camera Issues
  • Incorrect information about the capacity of the CF card or the number of images it could store was displayed.
  • Messages indicating that the card was malfunctioning or that there were no images on it were displayed, and it became impossible to take new images or play back the recorded images.
  • Images that had already been recorded would be overwritten with newly taken images.
Computer Issues
  • Images taken with the camera could not be played back.
If these issues have occurred with your camera/CF card, please reformat the card after updating the camera’s firmware.

Tell me about the changes in the way images are displayed in Continuous AF Mode
  [ PowerShot S1 IS ]

The changes make it possible to check the subject’s movement on the LCD monitor or through the viewfinder even when the shutter button is half-pressed.

Tell me about the overexposure phenomenon that occurred during daytime synchronized shooting
  [ PowerShot S1 IS ]
When taking daytime synchronized shots, because the aperture value was not automatically adjusted to the synchronized flash speed, some shots could be overexposed, but this has been fixed so that the right exposure can be obtained.
